Category: Parkinson's Disease: Non-Motor Symptoms
Objective: To review the relationship between vascular related factors and cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease.
Background: Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive, neurodegenerative disease that is characterized by the presence of impaired motor symptoms and nonmotor symptoms. It is cognitive impairment that is main non-motor symptom, which is detrimental for patients’ quality of life and cause a growing health ecnomices. Some epidemiological studies indicated that vascular factors play a crucial role in the occurrence and development of Parkinson’s disease. The relationship between vascular related factors and cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease is not clear now.
Method: We collected and reviewed the articles through databases such as Pubmed, Elsevier, Wanfang, Cnki, and searched for “Parkinson”, “cognitive”, “dementia”, “treatment”, “vascular factors”, “nonmotor symptoms”, “autonomy neural function”, “blood flow perfusion”.It is limited in age.
Results:
There are many articles indicating that vascular factors is important and make a contribution to Parkinson’s cognitive impairment.
Conclusion:
These all indicated that vascular factors is important and make a contribution to Parkinson’s cognitive impairment. But it is not generally noticed and always ignored. It is time to pay attention to the fact that vascular factors is indeed plays a role in Parkinson’s cognitve impairment.
