Objective: Nowadays sleep apnea becomes the one of the most general problem in each sphere. Every day, the role of sleep apnea in the development of various diseases of organs and systems gets more apparent. Including, office workers also suffer from this disease.
Background: One of the Aim of this study was to investigate the role of daytime mental working for development of sleep apnea in office workers.
Methods: We studied 158 patients who were working in the office and suffered from daytime general weakness, memory loss and insomnia. And we invited to complete various sleep questionnaires to patients. The average age of patients were from 22 to 56. The trial included 63 females and 95 male patients.
Results: Of the 158 employees provided informed consent and all nasal flow and Electroencephalography data were available from all patients. OSAS was diagnosed in 72 (45,5 %). In 72 patients women were 20 (27,7 %) and men were 52 (72,3%). And the average age of patients who diagnosed OSAS was from 35 to 56. On the results of the questionnaire: in 80 % patients which diagnosed OSAS were found the obvious symptoms, such as, snoring, tiredness, general weakness, poor sleep quality, insomnia and loss of memory. In the 75 % of patients were poor performance in their office work.
Conclusions: The current study showed that, among mental office workers who are working ongoing may cause the airflow muscle collapse or weakness which result in the OSAS. And this condition can lead to the poor performance.
