Objective: Comparison of serum IL-6 levels in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients with and without Сovid-19.

Background: In the scientific literature, there is information about the increase in the amount of ferritin in the blood serum of patients after the infection of Sovid-19 and the prognosis of the complications of the disease.

Method: A total of 90 patients with PD were examined. Patients with PD were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 consisted of 45 patients with PD and Covid-19 infection, and group 2 consisted of 45 patients with PD and no Сovid-19 infection. The control group was patients who underwent Covid-19 without PD. The amount of IL-6 was checked using the IFA method.

Results: Patients suffering from akinetic-rigid form of PD in group 1 had a serum ferritin level of 316.5±8.2 ng/ml, 301.1±9.3 ng/ml in quivering PD and 314.6±7 in mixed form. It was found to be 2 pg/ml. The result of the comparison is that there was no reliable difference between the tremor and the mixed form of the disease, r≥0.05. The serum ferritin content of patients with PD 1st stage in group 1 was 282.4±8.6, the serum ferritin content of 2nd stage patients was 301.9±6.1 ng/ml, and the 3rd stage was mixed 352.2±8.3 ng/ml ng/ml and in stage 4 it was found to be 392.2.±7.8 ng/ml. The result of the comparison is that a reliable difference was observed between all stages of the disease, r≤0.001.

Conclusion: The level of ferritinemia in patients with Covid-19 is closely related to the clinical forms and stages of the disease. Ferritinemia has higher indicators in the akinetic-rigid form of the disease compared to the shaky and mixed forms, and in the higher stages of the disease compared to the lower stages.
