Objective: Present a case study with rare congenital disease for further сreating a database and developing algorithms for the management of such cases in the future
Background: Dandy-Walker syndrome (DWS) is a rare congenital disorder of brain development, often occurring in the antenatal period or early childhood and characterized by lesions in the brain and surrounding fluid spaces. The clinical picture includes mental retardation, psychomotor developmental delay, and cerebellar ataxia. Associations with other pathologies including congenital heart disease, primary hypothyroidism and disorders of various body systems such as central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary and orthopedic systems are frequently observed.
We are currently envisioning a case of a 36-year-old male suffering from a rare DIC syndrome with central non-sugar diabetes, mental retardation, nasal joint aplasia and cardiac myxoma. This case calls for attention to the possible complications of the disease in the diagnosis and management of patients with Dandy-Walker syndrome, and emphasizes the need for multispecialty care to manage their condition.
Method: Literature review and presentation of a clinical case study
Results: This case study describes the results of the discussion
Conclusion: This case of Dandy-Walker syndrome in our patient, shows possible combinations of various malformations, which is not much described in the literature. The publication of case data will help to expand our understanding of this rare syndrome and develop more effective therapies. We hope that our information will be useful for future research. Creating a database and developing algorithms for the management of such cases are key steps in improving clinical practice and providing the best care for patients.
